Education in the 21st Century is a dynamically changing environment. It is our belief that young people need a wide variety of skills to learn deeply and excel in today’s world: flexible creativity, diverse collaboration, and dynamic communication to name a few. Pella Christian High School is committed to equipping students with these 21st century skills as we seek to meet our mission of “educating and nurturing each student to serve in God’s world.” (PCHS Mission Statement)

At Pella Christian, technology has become a critical tool in equipping students to transform their world for Jesus Christ. After researching best practices in the area of technology and studying the way that today’s student learns best, the leadership and faculty at Pella Christian developed the 1:1 Technology Initiative. The goals of the program include equipping students with the latest technology skills and teaching them discernment and the ethical use of technology. Another important goal is to model current best practices in education by differentiating instruction, developing anytime-anywhere learning, widening community and communication, and developing lifelong learners. We desire for our students to be good communicators as well. As a Christian School, the faculty at Pella Christian High School is committed to developing these goals as we educate and nurture each student  to serve in God’s world.

Technology is becoming an increasingly critical part of the learning experience and curriculum delivery at Pella Christian High School. We believe that technology is changing the way teachers and students interact with each other and should expand the classroom experience beyond traditional time and space limits. Technology will also enable us to respond more effectively to various learner needs. As Christians, we believe that it is critical that we continue to teach students discernment and the ethical use of technology so that they can be equipped “to serve in God’s world.” A common level of accessibility to technology is essential for students, teachers, and parents. We will continue to teach technological literacy and also to evaluate what that means as new technologies emerge and old technology becomes obsolete.

As Christians it is critical that we continue to teach students discernment and ethical use of technology.

Students are “wired” differently today and technology enables us to respond more effectively to learner needs.

We live in a visual society and we need to teach students to use technology effectively so they can be salt and light in the world.

A common level of accessibility to technology is essential for students, teachers, and parents.

We need to continue to teach technological literacy/adaptability and continue to evaluate what hat means as new technologies emerge and old technology becomes obsolete.

1. Equip students to use technology to serve in God’s word.
2. Teach students discernment and the ethical use of technology so that we maintain the value of personal communication (face to face).
3. Improve the quality of student learning, academic achievement, and communication as they develop a new set of knowledge and skills for the future world of work.
4. Provide greater access to educational opportunities, formative assessments, and differentiated instruction by providing one to one access for students for anytime, anywhere learning.
5. Improves communication and widens our sense of community by expanding the way teachers, students, and parents are able to interact/partner with each other.
6. Equip students to be life-long learners.
7. Seek ways to expand the global perspective for our students through the use of technology.
